Welcome to the Newton Acceptance Group of Alcoholics Anonymous. We meet each Monday evening at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 258 Concord Road, Newton, MA.
6:15 - 7:15 p.m. - Beginners Meeting - This meeting is for people who have a desire to stop drinking but especially for those new to AA who want to learn about “how it works.”
7:30 - 8:30 p.m. - - Open Speaker Meeting - Open to alcoholics and nonalcoholics. At speaker meetings, A.A. members “tell their stories.” They describe their experiences with alcohol, how they came to A.A., and how their lives have changed as a result of Alcoholics Anonymous. (Attendance at an open A.A. meeting is the best way to learn what A.A. is, what it does, and what it does not do.)
Newton Acceptance was founded May 3, 1971 and has been continuously running since then with a very active fellowship of newcomers and folks with long-term sobriety.
Acceptance Is The Answer: Pg. 417, Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous
"Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation - some fact of my life - unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God's world by mistake."
